In the competition for global investments, the strategies for developing cities as cultural hubs and sites for experiential activities are increasingly used. I will investigate the role of affectivity in these developments, from the vantage point of a media artist, whose labor participates in the contemporary cultural and urban production. What does it mean to think of and engage in urban space as affect space? How to reconfigure urban sites affectively? The presentation will address these questions while presenting the case study of At Hand, a site-specific installation pilot, which participated in Media Facades 2010 Festival in Helsinki.
